1st day of school.

Well, I can not post pictures for some reason. So the many pix I took of Luke in K and Jack in 1st area a no show.  I'll keep working at it...  It seemed to be a good day!  Luke and Jack both made it to class on time and home to me on the bus.  Tomorrow is a Quest day for both so we'll see how it goes!

Birthday Cake

Nothing says Happy Birthday like Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader battling on a cake

It makes for some very happy little boys (and one girl).

Happy 5th Birthday, Luke!

My wild and crazy little boy just turned 5!
I can hardly believe it.
He starts Kindergarten next week and will take the school bus and going to Quest, just like Jack.
He is silly and stubborn and very cute.

He is a dare devil to the nth degree, but gets scared at rated G movies.
Who knew that Chipmunks get chipwrecked could be so frightening!
However at age three he was barreling down a hill on his bike, with no training wheels.

I love you Lukie Lu, Happy Birthday!

WW: critter in the river

This caused quite a stir at the old swimming hole.

And everyone kept calling it a lobster...
we kept correcting them with it is a crayfish or crawdad.

Not too many lobsters in the San Lorenzo river with all the fresh water and all.
But it sure was a big one!
And, yes, Luke had to touch it - with supervision of course!

Rope Swing

This was a few weeks back...but I forgot to share

One day we walked over to Henry Cowell Park to swim in the river.

They have this great rope swing, but the only problem is that the river is pretty shallow right not, so you don't really want to let go.

This is the first time that Luke would actually go on the swim and he loved it!

Nice to have a river practically in your backyard!

gymnastics at Auntie Kate and Uncle Bill's

These boys never stop. Seriously, never stop!

Up and down, back and forth...

They never tire...

But at least they help each other out sometimes!

And I am so glad we had two boys that can play so well together (sometimes)

Plenty of times they fight and argue and kick.

But this was not one of those times...till the very end.

SJ Giants hot hot hot

We "won" a few tickets to the SJ Giants at an auction for SLVE (the boys school)
and realized that the season is almost over and we hadn't attended any games...
so we headed to SJ on Saturday to see a game and see the "Panda".

Pablo Sandaval was rehabing in the AA league..and we wanted to see it.
Even tho it was super, duper hot! Seems to be a theme to our summer, HOT.

It was a great game and the Giants won, but Panda was terrible!

It was fun to see a superstar...but he wasnt on his game.

He did try hard and you could tell that he was going for a home run each time.

Hoping he does better now that he is back in the big league!

SF food

We ate pretty well when we were in SF.
We had a great dinner with an old friend on the first night at Palomino ( a chain, but quite good!)
And the next day hit the food trucks at Off the Grid at the Civic Center Plaza.
We had duck tacos and yummy shish kabobs.

We then walked down to the Ferry Building, but the food truck lines were too long and the food didn't look that exciting, so we went to the Water Bar for oysters and snacks.
I do NOT recommend the Water Bar.  The oysters were okay, but the service was terrible.
It took over an hour to get tempura nectarines and they were not very good.
The view was nice of the bay bridge. (below)

I couldn't get these pix in the order I wanted...so one more  tasty food truck below.

After the disappointment the the Water Bar we went back to the Ferry Building for more sustenance to take back to the  hotel  (previous post).
That night we wondered around to smugglers cove which is an awesome bar, especially if you like rum.
We ended up our night at Soto Mare
It was a surreal experience with crowdedness and awesome food.
I highly recommend the clam chowder and Cioppino!

SF anniversary

After our time in Forest Meadows, we dropped the kids off and my Mom and Neal's and took off for SF.
We had a bit of a parking nightmare, but it all worked out in the end and we did not have to pay $50 a night!

We stayed in the Union Square area and walked EVERYWHERE!
To the ferry building and back a few times, to Chinatown, to north beach.
It was amazing and the weather was fabulous which you never know what you'll get in sf in the summer.

This is a lovely lunch of pork from Boccalone, delicious cheese from Cow Girl Creamery, bread from ACME and wine from somewhere Murphys!
